Item description: * See scan - perfect condition. This is an extremely rare 1970ies Communist / Socialist era Bulgarian decoration. The Hero of People's Republic of Bulgaria Gold Star honorary title order was the highest possible Bulgarian state award and decoration. Comes with original case of issue. State records say that it was awarded to only 58 people including foreigners and Brezhnev from Soviet Russia was awarded with 4 pieces... Most likely the awarded people had more than one piece in case it was lost, but we doubt it that more than a 100 pieces were ever minted. The gold star was created in analogy of the Soviet award Hero of USSR. The star is solid 14 karat gold and weighs approximately 13.4 grams without suspension and about 16.9 grams with suspension. The star is hallmarked at reverse by the State Mint with A4 mark for 14 karat gold. The order was instituted on 15th June 1948 by decree of the Presidium of the Great Assembly and was awarded to Bulgarian and foreign citizens for merit in the defense of Bulgaria and other countries allied to Bulgaria. The gold star was to be carried over the left breast. The award was closed in 1990. So far this is the 3rd properly hallmarked and original piece we've had for sale and the rarest Communist era highest Bulgarian award. Compared to the thousands similar gold stars of the Hero of USSR offered at very high prices the present piece that is 1 out of 58 ever awarded is a real gem. LIFETIME GUARANTEED AUTHENTIC. Upon additional request and extra charges we can issue a hardcopy COA for the set. Absolutely scarce military / militaria collector piece and probably on of the rarest Bulgarian orders.
